last night there was a play where the receiever caught the ball and got about 5 yards and the defensive player was called for a holding penalty when attempting to pull the flag.

The referee gave the offense the 5 yards gained, 10 yards for the holding penalty, AND a replay of the down. I cant believe that they are supposed to replay the down, is this correct. If so, it is a blantant contrast to rules of actual football.

Not sure

I think it`s 10 yards from where the runner was down, and if it is not a first down (because you moved past the cone), and no reply of the down (since they took the penalty).

Correct

You should not get all three. If you take the penality and it is not a first down then it is what ever down it is next. We had the same issue early this year at ECL and once we got the officials to huddle and think about it, it was corrected.

Yeah i knew that couldnt have been right, the crazy thing was that the officials actually did huddle up and discuss it, and still decided the completely wrong way. I really think these guys need a concepts refresher course.

The officials were right but if they changed they were wrong!
If you accept a penalty you replay the down unless the run and penalty will give you the first down or the penalty carries an “automatic first down”.
