Certainly, league officials will do what`s right, but if my facts are correct, this team - I think their name is "Who Knew" - hasn`t played in several years. In fact, many of their players are over 50 and they`ve already lost 2 games in C league. I`m not sure what all the complaining is about. Possibly, the other teams that entered C league did so with the belief that they would automatically win everything. Maybe that little dream hasn`t been fulfilled and now the whining and the finger-pointing is starting. Maybe, like the rest of this me-first, I`m-a-victim society, we are all looking for someone else to blame instead of taking a long, hard look in the mirror.

The little that I know about this social-security sucking team suggests that they`ve already lost at least 5 players to injury including a guy that was one of their top receivers 10 years ago. Their starting quarterback hasn`t played in the last 3 games because he hurt his arm - throwing the football. I mean, if you`re the quarterback, how do you hurt your arm throwing the football? Here`s a clue - he`s 55 years old and has trouble tying his own shoes. Why is this guy trying to play flag football with a bunch of 20-somethings?

I`ll tell you why. Because the fire still burns in his belly. And it burns in the belly of every one of those other geriatric losers on that team. Sure, they might be old, but they remember the glory days - 15 or 20 years ago when running came naturally and didn`t cause tendons to snap and ligaments to shrivel. They remember the days when cute, young women shouted their names from the sidelines as the referee raised both arms in the air once again.

But the fire in their belly today is just the residue of the twice-heated left-overs that their wives served them before the game - yes, those aging women on the sidelines that no longer yell their names, but browse through food catalogs on the sidelines waiting for the game to be over.

But the memories are still there. And that`s why they play.

And you`re complaining because you have to face this team? This is the kind of team that Ohio State schedules for its homecoming game. This is the kind of team that gives your 2nd-stringers a chance to play. This is a team for which they should have created a D League.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Stand up and be a man. And when you see these guys on the field of play, go up to them, pat them on the back and thank them for winning the war and keeping your country free.
