Well here we are, the second season is upon us. Since every game can end the season, teams start showing up with all their players. Expect competitive and hard fought games this week. Instead of writing about all the games I will take a detailed look at each matchup on gameday.

game#1

#5-Lions/#4-CCR NOVAs

This will be the most evenly matched first round game. Both teams started slow and finished strong, both bring division I playoff experience to the table, both are perennial contenders, and both have outstanding defenses.

During the season, the Lions showed flashes of domination but also lapsed into mediocre play. I am inclined to write off the recent bellyflop against the Coyotes due to the fact that the Coyotes have now established themselves as a legitimate Division I team. I really think they caught the Lions offguard. Before that the Lions were riding an impressive 3 game winning streak capped by beating My Plumber.

The Novas have not beaten anyone ranked above them, but they have recorded an impressive 4 shutouts against teams ranked under them. After dropping games to the Sharks and My Plumber in back to back weeks, the Novas finished up with solid wins against the bottom of the division.

So one one hand you have a team entering tonights game on a 2 game winning streak but against the weaker division teams, and on the other hand you have a team that looked to be peaking before losing to a weaker team in its last game. As I said before we have a very even matchup here.

The Lions offense will not become shutout victim #5 for the Novas. They will find the endzone twice, once in each half. The Novas offense will also score 2 touchdowns and this game will come down to who has the ball last.

Look for the Novas to stop the Lions towards the end of the game and put through the winning fg as time expires and advance to the semis with a 17-14 win.

Good call Mr C

Collinsworth you were almost correct in your prediction. The Lions did get two TD`s in each half and so did the Novas except that the Novas first TD was called back from an inadvertent whistle after the defender`s flag that was rushing the QB came off, not the QB`s flag but the defenders? Other then that blown call it was a good game that could have gone either way.

Bull****

One blown call cost the Novas the game.

Not necessarily

They still would`ve had to kick the extra point and if they made it, it would`ve only been tied. So who knows!

Learn the plays so you don`t have to carry a playbook around.

Sounds like the Novas are crying to me. Flag or playbook what does it matter they still lost. I didn`t see the game but I would agree that it does sound like it was a bad call if it was an inadvertent whistle and if it did in fact take a td away?

Exactly

It was an inadvertent whistle and that`s that.

The play was done over and they didn`t score.

GAME OVER

bottom line

I could see if it was the last play of the game and that happened. But that was not the case. It happened in the middle of the game. So there was still a lot of football to be played. Sure it would have changed the dynamics of the game flow and game plan. But no one knows what would have happened if that play stood. The game was not won or lost on that one play. If you want to play that game of shoulda, coulda, wouldas, then you could say that dropped INT that Brent had on that double pass could have changes the whole game to. You guys would have never even had that play that was called dead. You see how stupid this is. It was a well fought game that had plenty of opportunities that both teams could not capitalize on. Both of the teams are in the upper half of the league and the game could have gone either way. It was a well played game and there is no point in sitting here and cheapening it by ****ing over one play. Good game NOVAS. I hope to see you guys at states so that one of us (NOVAS, Sharks, Lazy, Kerns, My Plumber and Lions) can bring the state title back to Fairfax County.
