Tonight`s division semifinal game matches up 2 teams, Sharks and Lions, who know each other pretty well. This is a rematch of last years championship game which the Sharks won 7-0. More recently the Sharks beat the Lions in game 4 of the regular season.

The Sharks have arguably the best pash rush in the league and this has played havoc with the Lions offensive strategy in the past but the Lions have changed their attack to one that more closely resembles the type of offense which gives the Sharks headaches.

The Sharks offense is solid if not flashy. They hone in quickly on exploiting points of weakness and will toss the deep ball when least expected. Shark receivers do not drop too many balls and the players are skilled at avoiding the flag pull.

The Lions defense has not been as stellar as in the past but they lost key players early in the season which contributed to this. They have improved team chemistry over the last few weeks and are almost back to form.

The Sharks like to jump out ahead early and then play for the conservative win. The Lions like to score alot of points which will create unecessary turnovers on occasion but this also gets them back in the game quicker if they fall behind.

There are several keys which will determine the outcome to this game.

1] Who scores first

If its the Sharks then will the Lions be patient and not try to force the issue too soon?
If its the Lions I believe the Sharks will not panic.

2] Who trys to get too cute

Broken trick plays in this game could cost a team the game. These are 2 very disciplined defenses.

3] Finally, who manages the clock the best.

The team that can best play the clock with a lead will have the advantage here.

All keys still point to the Sharks to win this game, but I think it will be a little closer than last year. 13-10 Sharks.
