This is just one drunk redneck’s take on the midway point of the A-Division season…

1. Lazy Sundae (4-0) - Lazy has run the table but against the same type of lower level competition that CCR Novas has faced so far. Their offense is rolling racking up over 100 pts in 4 games but their defense may have too many holes. Look for Kerns, Sharks and Novas to really test their defense and whether their offense can continue to score enough points to win games. But they are the Spring Champs and until you can beat the champs, they’ll stay #1.

2. CCR Novas (4-0) - CCR Novas on a tear to start out the season but the competition hasn’t been up to par as they’ve only beaten one team with a winning record (Sharks). But they did dominate that game against the defending champs so they may have something going with the young blood they’ve added to the team. The defense looks tough giving up only 20 pts in 4 games. The second half will tell as they have games remaining against Kerns, Invequity, Lions, My Plumber and Lazy Sundae.

3. Sharks (4-1)- The Sharks looked good against Kerns but turned around and were manhandled by the new look Novas. The score was closer than the game was. The defending Champs will need to be on check as they face My Plumber, Lions and Lazy Sundae to close out the season.

4. Invequity (2-1) - The defending B-league champs have beaten the Lions (who were battling some internal strife), No Talent Newbies and were leading Kerns with a minute to go in the “lights out game”, but then turned around and lost 33-7 to the Sharks in a game that wasn’t even competitive. It’s going to take a few more games before we can figure out who the real Invequity is and that’ll happen soon as they take on CCR Novas next week, followed by My Plumber and Lazy Sundae. For right now, I’m keeping them one spot ahead of Kerns just based on the “lights out” score.

5. Kerns (2-1) - No one really knows what Kerns team will show up this season. They were beaten in week 1 by the Sharks and have had two uninspiring victories over MAC Daddies and a shell of the former My Plumber so far. And there’s still the matter of being down to Invequity when the lights went out. We’ll know more in the next few weeks as they face Lions, Lazy Sundae and a rainout game with CCR Novas.

6. Kilroys (2-2)- The Lions are holding things together by a string right now. But they are still playing with the same passion they always have, even in close losses to Invequity and Lazy Sundae. The key will be to see how they do as they head into the meat of their schedule with Kerns, Sharks, Novas and My Plumber still left on the schedule.

7. My Plumber (1-3) - All I can say is WOW! The once formidable My Plumber is 1-3, winning only one game against the last place Newbies. They haven’t even looked good in defeat, losing by double figures to the 1-4 Coyotes and Lazy Sundae but at least making it look respectable against Kerns. Plumber has no room for error as they face Kilroys, Novas and a formidable Invequity to finish the season.

8. Coyotes (1-4) - Big win to start the season against My Plumber but have struggled since. Good core group of athletes, just need another season to jell and they could easily be a team that competes. Still has shot to make noise in playoffs if they can pull off at least 3 victories against the likes of Kerns, Invequity, MAC Daddies and the Newbies

9. MAC Daddies (0-4) - Hung tough the first week vs. Lazy Sundae but haven’t even been close against the rest. Bad news is that MAC Daddies are 0-4. Good news is they’ve already faced the top 4 teams in the league and have a more than capable team that has some chance to pull off a few victories in the final half of the season.

10. No Talent Newbies (0-4) - These guys are a good group of guys with some decent athletes but definitely in way over their heads in A-Division. Have only scored 7 pts in 4 games. Keep your heads up, move down to C-Division next season and I think you’ll be more than happy with the move. Until then, keep a close eye on the A-teams you face and pull a play or two for your playbooks.

Until next time, remember to support your local redneck moonshine distillers!
