For real, don`t take the bid if you aren`t going to show. Lame as hell Badgirlz. Looks like TC dropped a shootout to DMOB in the second round, meaning our area is out of the running.

Looks like a pretty weak showing outside of VA. Look at the blowouts in some of those early round games. Guess VA is the only state that takes this game to the next level!

I am still confuse, what does the term National mean? http://nationals.usffa.org/league/page632

7 out of 50+ states is consider National Level? Shouldn`t this tournament be called Best of the Semi-North-East Coast Tournament.

Such a misconception...

"National Tournament" means a tournament of teams from a nationwide organization. Nationwide means its membership is open to all states. Could be 50 states, or 5 , or 2, or 1, or 10 cities...whatever become members. If there are only 6 or 7 states who are members its still a National Tournament for that organization. Not just flag football I would say 99% of all "national tournaments" in sports don`t involve all the states or even half of them.

great explanation. "Hrm" is just some douche attempting an idiotic comment to some how minimize the accomplishment of the level of the tournament. I`m sure you don`t try attempting the same rational for the National Football League or the National Basketball Association, so why do it for this?? There are probably no less than 40-50 different flag football associaions and ALL have a national tournament. Get a life loser and stop trying to hate for not reason.

Is the NFL really a National League? Rhode Island doesn`t have a team...come to think of it, either does South Carolina! What a sham!

So you are saying, NFL and NBA is not consider National Leagues, let me remind you that they have at least more than 7 states in the league and lets not forget that they encompass west, central and eastern states... also... its highly recognized through out the country and hence its the highest end of sport you can get in this country.

Basically what you are telling me is, I can start any company, gather just 3 states or even 2, and call it a National Tournament just cause those 2 or 3 states are the only one willing to participate. Please do tell me what is the magic formula before you can call yourself a National Tournament?

It is still a misconception and "Regionals" better fits the title, its kinda embarassing to go to the state of CA and be like hey, my team won the National Flag Football Tournament last year, but they wouldn`t have a single clue on wtf you are talking about.

If this tournament featured the big states, even just 1 of them or 2, then maybe I wouldn`t have raised this question...

Idiot

It just like if those guys in Cali came over here and say I won a National Flag Football Tournament, and VA was represented.

You don`t see the professional team in North Dakota calling the NFL idiots for not including them.

Short and sweet, it`s a national tournament for your organization and whoever it encompasses.

Get a life...

Good discussion, but the fact is that different regions in the country play by different rules. Out West, Southwest, Southeast, Northeast...the prodominant styles are different. Not only (as mentioned) is it inconvenient to travel that far, but you;re not even playing "your" style.

Its more like boxing than anything else, with several belts to go around, but each belt has a distinct style/rules.

The rules we use have evolved over 35 years, so our National Organization is the most homegrown. Some years there are new member states, some years states do not participate. In the past WI, IN, NJ, TN have been members. WV and NC are newer members.

Its not a profitable business (at least with our National Organization), so the only driving force is interest and the challenge. If teams cannot get a competitive enough squad to travel they may not attend, bid or no bid.

In my opinion, the reason Virginia does so well at our nationals is that the top teams are chasing each other as much as the out of state competition, i.e. Firm will show up at full strength for the chance to take on DMOB or the Gunz at full strength. For other states, the top seeds many times do not even know and never played each other, and may not benefit from the caliber of inter-state, inter-league rivalries.

Please do tell me what is the magic formula before you can call yourself a National Tournament?

When you invite (whether they accept or not) or passively/actively solicit, the rest of the competition at your game (same rules) to a tournament.

Just stating the facts... and to tell you the truth, the CA and NV "National" Tournament actually has more state teams all around the US than the one that this one holds including the west, central, and eastern conferences...

To tell me to get a life just because I have an opinion on a misinterpreter title is kinda low isn`t it? It`s better to inform people that this is really just a Regional Tournament, thats the point of the argument. And to ride on that thought that you won a National Tournament and tell all your friends and family is a half lie in itself correct?

To be a National Tournament, I didnt say every state had to be in it... I am saying at least be more broad than just 7 states, or atleast include states outside the Northwest Regions. Like I ask before, what is this magic formula that every thinks make up a National Tournament, clearly NBA or NFL had one.

For more perspective: the bigger name national organization had 7 out of 21 mens "A" national championship tournament participant teams from one league (the D.C. league) this year. 2 others were from this areas as well. 9 out of 21 teams from the D.C. beltway. Our area is probably the richest in terms of flag football.

I know our group (USFFA) had teams from 14 different leagues participating last year (when I was the tournament director/host league). The most any one league sent were 3.
