The work on the parking lot at Braddock Park has finally begun. The condition of the parking lot is so poor that it is being completely rebuilt, not just re-asphalted.

The work is being done in phases. About 1/3 of the parking will be unavailable at any time during the project. No fields are planned to be closed. To make up for the loss of parking capacity, we have lined spaces in the grass inside the gate next to the mini-golf course (see the first attachment). The gate will be controlled by Fairfax Adult Softball as they are assigned 6 of the 7 full sized fields at the Braddock. It should not be necessary to utilize the temporary parking when the softball fields are not in use, as there will always be about 200 parking spaces not under construction. Additionally, we are allowing vehicles to be parked in open grassy areas on the parking lot side of the guardrail.

The biggest impact to users of field #7 will occur at the start of the project. The first area being rebuilt is directly adjacent to field #7. While it is under construction, the trail from the parking lot to the field will be blocked. The second attachment shows routes around the construction. We have removed guardrail and built a temporary trail at the south end of the lot.
