06/07 : Magnums win in OT against Rejects 17-14

Magnums improve to 3-0 in the postseason, while Rejects sit at 2-1.

The victory continues a 6 game winning streak for Magnums which now stands at 7 wins in a row.

The loss ends a 8 game winning streak for Rejects.

No one was "shut down" last nite. Both teams showed up, it was a tale of 2 halves. Mags were great in the 1st, we responded and made it a game in the 2nd, then overtime! I think it`s funny how the 2 teams that barely post here happen to be the ones in the FINAL game. Our teammate Darryl NEVER was on here talkin trash, he`s a great player and no matter what is said about him, he produces on the field, and that`s ALL that matters. See ya in the Fall fellas. Congrats Mags!!

I agree with Rejects_11 that NO ONE was shut down last night. Two good teams played a very good game. But I don`t agree with you saying that NO ONE from Rejects & Mags post on here because EVERY team has 2 to 4 guys who post with or with out log in. You don`t keep a track of all your players and if they said they don`t, it may not be the truth. So let`s get back to last night game. Congrats Magnums and Rejects Congrats for getting to the finals. Next Fall should a good one with so many teams heading over to A.

You`re right no team keeps a track on every players computer 24/7. So it can be ANY one or any team.

not sure that ANY A fall league squad can win the ship, but any given game any team can win. Gotta be somewhat consistent to get into the playoffs. Bottom Line-you`re right, it will be very deep talent wise and teamwise, not many crappy teams this fall.

very true because last Fall season didn`t have that many good A league teams ( well playing better as their are now I mean) and this coming Fall you`ll have Magnums, Rejects, TC, Novacaine, 7pt Spread, Sharks/Kerns (are they coming back?), and Chaos. Fall should be good.

wat do you consider deep. If you were watching you would know that there were two people covering me at times. Plus the Mags had a good rush which helps any secondary remember this is a team game all parts work together. So why waste time running 40 yd routes

@ Cody - haha it was tough to adhere to your TO like demands.

@ Everyone else - D.O. definitely wasn`t "shut down" (a phrase that`s over used by those who don`t understand team sports). I know Mike Nunn is the first to admit he didn`t shut him down. But the key for us was limiting his big play capability. Pass rush helped with preventing the deep ball and Mike Nunn and our secondary did a good job of pulling flags right when D.O. and the other WRs caught the ball.

Another closet!! We played a weak schedule, so you say. HOWEVER. we`re the ONLY team, to play every team (except Chaos) that will even be in the A discussion. We played all the teams in the West, and Union, Novacaine, Mags and BB from the East. Yeah we lost to TC and Mags, both quality teams. Riddle me this, if our schedule was so weak, why did we play 6 out of the other 7 playoff teams? AND why does the computed SOS say we have the strongest SOS, out of any of the top teams? Do yourself a favor and DON`T identify yourself, as you`ll immediately lose a lot of credibility.

At some point this whole 7pt is weak stuff is going to get old. I know you don`t like it, but it is what it is. Do you suggest we go to B+, and listen all season on how we "dropped" down?

Recap (I`m sure I`ll leave some things out:

1st Half:
- We get the ball first and basically dink and dunk our way down the field. I think we converted 1 or 2 4th downs on the drive and ate up a lot of clock. Gibson (our QB) dumped it to our blocker (Mike W.) who then threw the TD in the endzone to Bobby (about a 10-15yd TD). Mags up 7-0.
- Rejects get the ball and get a 1st Down to D.O. on the sidelines. Then our defense holds them and forces them to punt. Short punt gives us the ball just before midfield.
- We basically do the same thing as the first drive....put together a clock eating drive with mostly short passes. Haha I think Mike Nunn got you on one play D.O. Get down to the goal line and I think it was 2nd down Gibson hits Fady in the endzone for the TD (refs said he got the ball off right before rejects pulled his flag). 14-0 Magnums.
- Rejects complete a couple passes and D.O. almost breaks one on the last play but we pull the flag.

2nd Half:
- Rejects get the ball to start the half and put together a nice drive. Hit a lot of slants to #21, and I think their center had a big reception and run. I think #21 scored the TD on a slant pass to make the game 14-7 Magnums.
- We get the ball back and covert a first down, maybe had one other reception. Then rejects force our QB to scramble and he threw an INT along the sidelines. Gives Rejects the ball at our 30-40yd line.
- Rejects complete a couple receptions and then run a nice option play sealing our DE inside....QB pitches to #11 who runs it in for the tying score. 14-14 with about 10min. left in the game.
- Kickoff goes out of bounds so we get the ball at our own 40yd line. I think we completed a short pass and then our QB had a nice run so basically we get it down to 1st and 10 from the Rejects 30ish yd line. We try a double pass which gets dropped (rejects jumped the route nicely) and refs call it a backwards pass so it`s a fumble. Moves us back 10yds. Then we have 2 straight false starts followed by 2 straight incomplete passes. 4th down from just past midfield and we have to punt it w/ under 4 min. left.
- punt goes touchback so Rejects get the ball at the 20yd line. They put together a real nice drive. D.O. makes some big catches to move the chains. They get down to inside the 20ydline. I think we got a sack to push them back a bit. They throw an incomplete pass and there are 10secs. left. They attempt the game winning FG which goes wide left. 4secs left we decide to neal it and go to OT.

OT:
- we win the toss and elect to go defense first. 1st Down Mike W. gets a big sack. 2nd down they complete a slant to #21 and we get called for defensive holding. Gives them the ball around the 10ydline and still 2nd down. They run option the next play and key flag pull by Zeus (or dlineman) for a loss of 5. Brings up 3rd and goal from around the 15yd line. They run a swing pass to the RB....Rocket (our DE) drops in coverage and skies up for the INT.
- We get the ball at the 20. 1st down Gibson completes it to me for about 5-10yds over the middle. We run option on 2nd down for no gain. 3rd down we kick the FG and Matt splits the uprights.

Probably the best game I`ve ever played in since coming into the league. Good defensive adjustment by Rejects the 2nd half. I think they brought 3 guys a lot which disrupted our ryhthm.

I don`t know if Tom would increase the Fall A league to 12 seasons. I don`t think there is enough field space. If he did, he would have to cut another league (B+, B or C) short a few teams.

Rob, did you mean defense held the runner(obstructed), then OK. If it was defensive holding(not the runner)it would have been an automatic first down from previous spot. Just making sure we as officials administer the rules correctly.
