In last nights Banditos/Wolverines game a extra point was not allowed because the holder came off his knee to grab the ball, and the play was whistled dead. In the playoffs Rhinos/Lazy the same thing happened but the extra point was then allowed after the officials discussed the call. Also have sen 2 different calls when it comes to onsides kicks. Can we get a final explanation of the 2 calls and what is allowed and not. Most importantly get the refs to call plays consistently. Thanks

However it turns out, we are not giving the trophy back!

S&S/Banditos game? In last night`s Banditos/Wolverines game,

every extra point was scored....final score was 21 - 14.

Clarification Please. I think the refs have done a hell of a job this

season, but consistency would cut down on frustrations...

Your right, I believe it was the 90 yd bomb they scored where the extra point was blown dead.

As it was explained to me, the call made in the Rhinos championship victory was correct.

I have clarified the ruling with the state Commissioner, and I quote "the state allows the holder to come off the knee and come back down. It does not matter if the holder starts with the knee off/on the ground as long as the team is in a declared kick situation." I have gone over this ruling with the head of officials. I apologize for further confusion I will bring it your situation to his attention to again attempt to avoid more confusion in the future. Thanks!

The question was does the ball have to travel in the air 20yds. the rule book is NOT specific. Again I had to confer with the State Commissioner and he confirmed that the ball just has to travel 20yds before either team can touch it and the ball does NOT have to be in the air, it can squib along the ground as long as it travels the legal distance 20yds.

Does this mean you still must pop the ball off the ground at some point so the other team just doesn`t call for a fair catch. And why have I seen refs blow the ball dead when it doesn`t travel past the first cone(20 yds).

The post above is self-explanatory the ball is NOT required to "pop-up" in the air, however it MUST travel the required 20yds before either team can touch it. If you need further explanation please give me a call and I will do my best to explain. Thanks!

First of all the state rules state that the restraining line are 30 yards apart

NOT 20 yards (NATIONAL RULE)

page 28 Rule 6 section 1, art. 3 CHG

"30 yards beyond and adjusted both restraining lines on penalty"

As going to "20 yards" anyone can touch the ball before going "20 yards" page 28 rule 6.1.4

Thanks

At the state level that Nationial rule has been amended. Check state amendments @ www.vffa.com Or you can talk to Bob Jacobs yourself. His contact info is located on the vffa website. Thanks!

This is exactly what I`m talking about. Send a memo to the "head officials" outlining the rules that have come into question over the past year or so. Their also should be something that goes out to the refs with the "new" schedule changes or rule ammendments. Most don`t know the rules so they either make a bad call or get their flag stuck in their pants. I`ve asked 5 different officials about the onside kick ruling over the past couple of weeks and have got 5 different explanations.

I apologize for the confusion. But I DO communicate with the head of offcials about rule amendments. If you need further explanation of the amended rules then all you have to do is call me. Let`s not tie up the msg board back and forth about the rules. I thought I stated the same info above in this thread. At this point if you need further explanation just give me a call. That is simple enough and I will do my best to help you. Thank you for your continued interest.

The rule I`m stating is the amended rule of the state "30 yards beyond and adjust both restraining lines on penalty"..

The kicking team can touch the ball before it goes the distance but belongs to the receiving team.

In Fairfax league we are playing by the National rules mod by state rules...Correct>>>
