 subject: "Week #5 B League Picks "
The Swami

;

Welcome to the fifth edition of The Swami`s B League Picks. Last week I posted a 4-1 record in the national division (excluding the wolverines/vienna inn 14-14 tie game) and I posted a 6-0 record in the american division. With the completion of the postponed Helltown Rosebuds/Webb Construction Game (which I correctly predicted), that gives me a 35-11 record on the season.

Congratulations to all the winners out there from Week #4 and lets hope we can have an exciting Week #5 as the playoff picture unfolds. With the league deciding to take the top 5 teams of each division into the playoffs many of the teams at the bottom have a ray of hope. These next few weeks will prove vital to the teams battling for that last position. Here is how I see it in Week #5:

National Division:
Webb Construction 14 Magnums 7
Banditos 17 Vienna Inn 14
Webb Construction 20 Entourage 0
Helltown Rosebuds 17 Potomac 10
Punishers 13 Entourage 0
S&S 20 Wolverines 7 (National Division Game of the week, S&S will prove why they are the top of the division)

American Division:
Invequity 19 Five Year Plan 6
Spalding 14 Gray Hounds 13 (American Division Game of the week)
Gray Matter 7 Chuds 0 (battle of the winless)
MAC Daddies 14 Gray Hounds 10
Titans 20 Gang Green 14
MAC Daddies 21 Big Pimpin 6

Let`s have another great week of football, and good luck to all the teams out there. Prove me wrong!

Does anyone else out there realize that MAC Daddies are not a good football team?!?!? Definitely don`t see them winning either game this week, Swami.

I agree

mac daddies are not a good football team, that statement during this season can only be spoken by invequity due to the fact that there the only ones that have been able to beat us. Until you`ve been able to get the w against us this season I don`t think you should talk. To my mac daddy team mates let get out there and get this thing done. To all the other teams in the league good luck and to all a good night

All I know is I`ve been playing in this league for 22 years (yep 22 years) for the same team. The MacDaddies have been out there a long time and they seem to have a lot of fun. After all, isn`t that what we all are doing out there?

If I remember correctly we have seen them down at the State tournaments, my team names have been Greevey`s, Signal Corp, Rosebuds, etc. but we have been the same team aging and playing together. Keep having fun and don`t listen to the background music.

dirty is one thing, hard play is another...

if your scared of getting run over don`t play in this league...MacD`s has one of the strongest and fastest rush around, they can rush through you or around you, if there coming through you they will make themselves known. Isn`t that what footballs about. As for the O-line if we get an occasional pancake, well it`s legal...get up and knock the dust off...but please what ever you do quit whinning..****

Oh shut up. Don`t give anyone that "join powder puff" league crap. This league is full of "powder puff" rules: No downfield blocking, no running into defenders when you have the ball, no straight-arming... how long should I go on? The rules make THIS a powder puff league.

It makes no sense that a defensive lineman can bull-rush the offensive lineman, but a ball carrier makes any contact with a defender, it`s a penalty.

It makes no sense that a (potentially bigger) defensive lineman can bull-rush (get a running start at) an offensive lineman, and the offensive lineman is stuck standing there, and can only make contact between the waste and the shoulders.

The rules are set up to be so powder puff and protect the defensive lineman. If we were playing REAL "after all it is football, there will be physical contact, B*TCH" football... the offensive lineman would be able to cut you down, or put you on your ass downfield. But lucky you, you`re protected by the rules. Bull rushing is technically not "dirty" and it`s not "cheating" ... But when you`re lined up across from someone the same size or smaller than you, and you bull-rush, it`s a "pu&&y" move (to use one of your words from your vast vocabulary).

If they changed the rules and let the offensive lineman cut you (and i`m not talking about when you`re double-teamed with one high and one low -- I mean man-up cut)... You`d be the biggest cry baby on the field because then you`d have to have something more than a running start -- some skill.

So, if you`re going to pull out the "powder puff" line, stop playing in this powder puff league (because that`s what it is) and go join a tackle league.

Don`t play or follow the league if you don`t like the rules, I play offensive line and I welcome the bullrush. I believe in the no cut rule after all we`re not trying out for a college or the pro`s here, I believe everyone in this league gets up in the morning to go to work. To allow the cut rule would be stupid and irresponsible due to injury. Seriously if you have a problem with it get out of the league, I look forward to coming out and playing clean fun football, I dont` want to have to worry about some frustrated hack that was unable to make it in life to potentially take my knees out. So if anyone knows who this fish clown is get him out of the league because I feel he`s a potential threat.

You apparently didn`t get or understand my post. If an OL is 6` 210 lbs (not big for, but a reasonable size for an OL), and he is lined up against a 6` 225 lbs DL that is alowed to get a 7-yard sprint worth of momentum before plowing into the stationary OL... You don`t think that`s just as "threatening" (regarding injury) as the OL being able to drop when a DL comes bull rushing at him? Especially when the DL is leading with is forearm (which you know happens)?

It`s exactly like you said, everyone gets up in the morning for work, and we`re not trying out for college or the pros here.

You don`t need to worry about me doing anything that`s not within the rules, and even if I disagree with some of the rules, I do accept them. This just came up because someone pulled out the "powder puff" line, and I wanted to point out how we have all these "powder puff" rules on our books to protect the defensive players -- and because of that, this IS a "powder puff" league.

And I`m okay with this being a powder puff league. Just don`t go criticizing someone -- calling him a pu$$y and using the "powder puff" line -- because he doesn`t like getting a forearm to his throat (or "high chest") by some DL that felt the need to get a 7 yard head of steam before nailing the stationary OL.

Guarantee S&S can definitely beat Rhino`s or Lions. I`ve played against S&S and they are the real deal. They should definitely be in the A League. Now here`s the deal. You will always get 1-3 teams that are in the B League, that should be in the A League. I don`t necessarily think the teams that SHOULD be in the B League can beat teams that SHOULD be in the A League. But who knows, any given day.

When you play Larry`s twice and the Rhinos twice and the Wolverines who lost only one game between them last season, thats how you can be 3-5. Look at the season records on this web site. We also lost to the Lions 20-0 and Kerns 7-0 this year in a tournament. We lost to Lazy Sundae in the State tournament 12-9. Now look at who is in the "A" Division. That is why we are a "B" team. You have to be really good to be competitive in the A Division not just think you are good.

Ya`ll just stay the course and things will work out. Hopefully, we will be back to compete against ya`ll next season!!

My squad is not dirty. We play hard every game and that will never change!

You know if you wanted to play real football they have tryouts every year for semi pro teams in this area, if your that good or think your that good go play there. Next time you want call a team out look in the mirror.

You know Drock, the problem is that many of these people have never had any real claim to fame. This is the highlight of their life. They`ve never done anything worthy of being praised and this is the only thing they are half way decent at. So I say to you, please forgive their ignorance. Some do it for fun while others do it because they never had a real life. Parental problems, drugs, loneliness... who knows.

But we truly appreciate you doing what you are doing in Afghanistan and wish you a safe return. However, I pray that you don`t go back over their to fight anymore for the ONE person you are really fighting for... because he couldn`t possibly have you fighting for us over their, when he wouldn`t even fight for us HERE. Come home soon man as I`m sure your family can use you way more than we or the Pres of the U.S. could. Luv for ya homie.

I respect the fact that you are fighting for our country over seas, but what`s the point of even mentioning that. This thread isnt about what we all do for a living. You signed up for that job, so stop indirectly complaining about it. I clean porta-johns for a living, but Im not on here looking for sorrow.

People are on this site smack talking and for the most part just having a good time. ITs all tongue in cheeck, and nothing said here is taken seriously.

So, again, we all thank you for serving our country, but next time save that tidbit for the "career thread".

What he said. This is a FLAG FOOTBALL board so don`t read if you don`t think its important.

Plus the fighting for freedom line doesn`t fly anymore. Most ppl support the troops because they don`t decide where they are sent but only the blind followers still don`t see that we are over there for BU$H INC not freedom.

Fish

Sep 29, 2005

Geez... I don`t want this thread to turn into a political discussion, and I`m the FURTHEST thing from a Bush supporter, but I do have to say that I 100% not only support the kick-ass awesome troops we have in Afghanistan, but also the valuable mission they have there in Afghanistan. They truley are protecting us so we can be here playing flag football and talking smack like it`s the most important thing in the world.

Iraq is another story. That is where your line applies. You have to still respect, appreciate, and support those soldiers though... They`re in one hell of a spot, yet their still doing what (at this point) needs to be done for the stability of the world.

Now, with that all said, Shultz is right. Just because our lives aren`t on the line, and/or we`re not fighting in Afghanistan, doesn`t mean we should feel bad about talking smack on our flag football board. It`s just smack, and we`re trying to make the most out of every day. After he`s over there putting his life on the line for the benefit of our freedom, I think the LAST thing "Afghanistan" wants us to do, is NOT make the most of the freedom he is fighting so hard for.

I love football.

The only way that we can find time to post on this board is if we served time in the military???

Is this China or America?

Hey Captain America, it was your your choice to serve. FYI - There isn`t a draft anymore. Not all of us feel that working for the military is the ideal job. I feel that my family is more important than the frigging military, so I`d rather be here watching my children grow, then risking my life for someone else`s pockets.

There are times when dying for our country, and being away from a family that needs me may be worth it - WWI and WWII come to mind. Trying to take over the middle east so we can be Israel`s body guard just isn`t one of those times.

Listen here jackass if it werent for the military you wouldnt even have freedom to post on this board. The only reason why you can watch your children grow is because of those men and women over there. But I guess you forgot about 9-11 when terrorist came into our country and ran plans into buildings. I guess that dint bother you cause you probly dint loose anyone in that incident. And if you feel that strongly about making fun of the people protecting your ass go to a forgein country were you belong. Im not even in the military. And body guard no. Get a clue those people over there want rights just like you, how would you like it if someone rap your wife everyday just because they could. think about what you say before you open your pie. communist. get off your soap Box, and for that guy in Afghanistan Rock on Brother %100. Brickowski,

Don`t be so ignorant. It`s fine to have differing political views, that`s your right as an AMERICAN to express your opinion. Just remember that those rights have been given to you by those who have fought in our military, for our freedom, over the past 229 some odd years. Whether or not you agree with our country`s political agenda, YOU, my friend are not forced to go over seas to fight because we have guys, like DROCK, who have volunteered to put their lives on the line, so that you don`t have to. You have the liberty to play with your kids and "watch them grow" because our country has individuals who are brave enough to risk all they have for thousands of people who are unappreciative. Again, you have your right to have your own political views in this country, and I have no problem with that. But make sure you are attacking the right people, and not those who are out there protecting your freedom.

DROCK, don`t know who you are, never met you, but I have the upmost respect for you and all of our soldiers.

Hopefully we can end the politcal talk, and get back to playing football.

You`re 100% correct Brickowski! What did you say wrong? All you said was that the military isnt for everyone, and all of these brainwashed idiots get upset?

Dont listen to these shitwads in here. They all talk about how America is a country where everyone can have their own opinion, yet when someone says that they are happy they arent in the military they get upset. Come on.

People bring up 9/11. Get a life. We lost more firemen and policemen in the actual 9/11 than we did military.

All of our military men have been going down in Iraq, which apparently was our country`s way of revenge for 9/11. Only there were no Iraqi`s involved in 9/11, so explain that to me.

Anyway, if people want to join the military, thats fine by me, but dont go trying to make your self sound so great for being in it. Any uneducated idiot who just turned 18 can enlist so I dont really call that an exclusive group. A bunch of brainwashed goons if you ask me.

Any way, last I checked there have been plenty of terrorists (Mcveigh)and murderers (Dahmer)who were in the military, so just because youre in the military doesnt mean you cant be an ****. Keep that mind.
