I coach at Woodbridge High school and Fred Lynn is by far the best athletic school. I coach the freshman defense and we have lost 2 games in 5 years. We get our athletes from Lake ridge, Woodbrige, and Fred Lynn. So all together they make a pretty good team.

There are actually ex college and ex pro players playing in this league, not a large percentage, why are you asking the question?

no way

Oct 06, 2005
11:43 AM
;

no way in hell anyone in this league has played anything other than high school and that is a stretch. what are all the ex pro players hiding in the c league, cuz i have seen EVERY a league team and believe me, none of those guys could even be the waterboy on an arena II team.

wow

Oct 06, 2005
12:02 PM
;

you must be an outstanding player then no way...you may want to start looking for a better league if you don`t feel the competition stacks up to what your looking for. Semi pro have try outs don`t they, maybe you can state the name of your team to see how well your doing...you must play for the sharks or my plumber seeing how well your doing...

to no way

Oct 06, 2005
12:02 PM

Who are you and what team do you play for that you can make that judgement? Leave at least your team name so we know who this talent scout is and by the way there are at least 4 players in A from just one team who I know played at the pro level.

another thing

Those `ex` pros keep it to themselves which is why you never hear them mouthing off about it on or off the field. The biggest mouths are mouths like yours who have accomplished nothing in their lives.

I asked the question just out of curiousity...most people keep things like that to themselves and let their performances speak...I just have noticed some good players from time to time in this league and wondered if there were ex-football or basketball or soccer or other athletes playing football...

I know one of the guys on the Novas played pro hoops in the NBA and Europe for a season or two. And I know of at least two former NFLers on two of the top teams in A ball. And I know he`s hiding but there`s a NFLer playing C ball as well. HAHAHA..you can`t hide Smurf!!! LOL! I won`t call them out by name because they aren`t playing flag for the glory, but rather for the love of competition.

man, come on, ther are no players in the league who were worth a damn in any pro sport. if a pro football player were playing in this league do you realize how obvious it would be. if you can compete against the worlds best athletes and then come into this league you would be head and shoulders above everyone else, i have not seen 1 player out there who looks the part, unless someone has a former nfl long snapper playing guard or something, get real.

however

Oct 10, 2005
11:30 AM

you can`t hit or downfield block, kind of takes the hands-on aspect out of it. Flag and real football are 2 different things, so it might not be as recognizable as you may think.

question

Oct 10, 2005
11:31 AM
;

Someone from the Novas played basketball. None of them are over 5`10"....impossible!

however however

Oct 10, 2005
11:36 AM
;

however you are right to a point. i agree that they are two different games, but trust me, the SPEED of the pro game alone would make a player very noticable. there are many linemen in the nfl who can outrun the majority of the players in this league. if it were a skill position player from the nfl playing down here, he would burn every defense out there. trust me, i`ve played against div 1-a talent (fsu, clemson, uva, etc) and none of these guys are even 1-a good, much less nfl.

Would you believe that there are a lot of people around the these parts who could`ve played pro ball but didn`t have opportunity because of where they went to school or other very good reasons? I guess you wouldn`t because your too busy being the best player in flag right now. I wish I was healthy so I could buss your ass and show you what talent is. That`s if you wasn`t scared to show your #, name,+ team.

actually sef, you are an exception, i know you have skills and talent bro, but nfl. i don`t know man. also i never said that i was the best player at anything, actually i suck, but as i said earlier i have seen the best most division 1 teams have to offer and only 1% of those guys make it in the nfl. hey what i have said is just an opinion but **** who am i, if you guys are all nfl caliber players then go try out, every year after the nfl draft the redskins have a rookie tryout camp, you even get a t-shirt and shorts, go out there and do the damn thing then, i know if i could be playing in the nfl instead of the ffx a league i would be poppin helmets instead of flags. (and occasionally tags)

Whew! That was one long discussion. I never even played high school football (I wasn`t big or fast, plus we didn`t have a team), but I am sure there are a few guys out here who have played D-1 football somewhere. My guess is those individuals just want to have fun and relive some of the good old days. For the record, I was on the Novas and I am 6`1". I guess I ruined the curve. Go Webb Construction

No one said this league is full of big leaguers...but they are definitely here. And they aren`t the guys you twenty somethings played against. Two of the NFLers are late 30s early 40s and the NBA guy is mid to late 30s. So as for dominating the competition and blowing by people...back in the day I know they did but multiple surgeries and age have slowed them all down. They are still top of the heap in terms of talent in the Fairfax league though...and all of them are the last to toot their own horns like a lot of the no talent/no class athletes in this league are apt to do.

A little harsh at the end, but right on. It seems that the people in this league who played at a high level in high school, college, or the pros, are the ones who are the most laid-back even though they still have the drive to win. I`d guess it`s the one`s who couldn`t/didn`t play who are the lame ones in this league.

Sorry I let my emotions get the best of me. But to hear some one say that some of these great talents couldn`t even play d1 ball is garbage. I just refuse to let some narrow-minded jackass talk bad about others and hide behind a cpu screen. If they want to do that then at least be man enough to give a team so their talent can be evaluated.

I can personally attest that Sef 81 missed getting into UMD and onto the football team by 2 decimal points on his HS GPA. There are only so many players that schools operating on the legit can "squeeze in", and those players usually come from FL where HS records magically change overnight and where the farm system starts at age 6.
