ANNOUNCEMENT:

Hey Tom,

"For divisions with less than 10 teams, each team will play 8 regular season games with all teams making the playoffs."

Just wondering how that will play out for the remainder of the season with only 7 teams. Thanks

good question

"For divisions with 10 or more teams, each team will play 9 regular season games, with the top 8 making the playoffs for a 10/11 team league, top 10 making the playoffs for a 12-14 team league, top 12 making the playoffs for leagues with more than 14 teams.
For divisions with less than 10 teams, each team will play 8 regular season games with all teams making the playoffs."

the top team will probably have a bye in the first round of the playoffs b/c the wolves will technically make it, and they could just forfeit that game too.

A League Teams:

In order to guarantee 9 games, we`ll drop the first round A playoff losers into a consolation tournament bracket. Game 8 will be your first round playoff game, and game 9 will either be your consolation tournament semifinal, or A League playoff semifinal. The highest seeded first round loser gets a bye to the consolation championship (since there are only 7 teams). The #1 seed in A gets a first round playoff bye - goes straight to the semis. Its possible (if the #1 loses their semi) that one of the A teams will only have 8 games played. If this is the case (and if the #1 seed wants to), we`ll reconfigure the consolation bracket for 4 teams - to include the #1 seed who lost their semifinal.

Tom,

I think, and you guys can chime in, that most teams would rather have another regular season game opposed to having a consolation bracket.

I love the game of flag football and I do look forward every week to play. I play for this league and one other league but the way fairfax league play is wack and there are more people crying then playing hard. The other league I play for is nonthing like the ***** level of guys who play here for fairfax.

you are probably right, but there is no way to schedule that 8th regular season game without unfairly tipping the balances. As it is, there is a chance we`ll have 3 teams at 4-3 and 2 teams at 3-4. Adding that 8th game would could drop (or raise) a team based on unequal strength of schedule i.e. team x had to play (stronger) team y twice, while team z played an easier opponent twice, and team z just jumped ahead of team x.

Tom,
I totally understand. I was thinking that maybe that last game would be a random draw and you get what you get. However, I have talked to some other teams and they didn`t seem to have any problems with it as long as the consolidation teams don`t have the option of making it back into the championship rounds. So I`ll leave it alone. Thanks again for you, Shay and Rob`s hard work through out the years.
p.s. Were you implying that Triple Crown would lose tomorrow? :o)
